“That was a memorable day for me, for it made great changes in me. But, it is the same with any life. Imagine one selected day struck out of it & think how different its course would have been. Pause, you who read this, and think for a long moment of the long chain of iron or gold, of thorns or flowers, that would never have bound you, but for the formation of the first link on that memorable day.”

9 June 2012. One advantage of being on east coast time on the west coast is time to squeeze in gems you didn’t think you’d have time for… Up at 4amPST (after going to sleep at 7pmPST post-winery tour), we jump in our muscle car and take an uber early morning drive through Sonoma & Yountville and we’ve never been so happy to be up so early. Breathtaking views (between heart-stopping windy vertigo-inducing roads for me, the non-driver driver). Simply beautiful payoff. Then back to San Francisco for my final night and our city mice hats and party girl shoes.

“Each friend represents a world in us, a world not possibly born until they arrive and it is only by meeting that new world is born,” ~ Anais Nin (Handwritten quote in one of my birthday card from Betts!)

8 June 2012. One of the “perfect days” that happened to coincide with my birthday by no coincidence — the doing of one very special friend and human. Room service, wine tasting, vineyard hop scotch, Tiffany blue boxes, small leather goods, flowers, champagne, chocolate covered anythings, a chaise chair,  pool side fun and early sleep are things I love on ANY day.  Making that combination of things come together on my birthday takes an unbeatable combination of humans that I’m very grateful to know.  There’s no thank you that will do, but thank you.

June 7, 2012. Off to San Francisco/Napa Valley for the west coast installment of my birthday. It’s become a tradition to skip town for birthdays – it seems to simplify things. I’m very fond of this itinerary and the company.

June 6, 2012. A few good peeps won’t let me get away to the west coast without some east coast birthday love first starting with lunch with B and now din with JerryBerry and our rapidly increasing circle of mutual friends. A really cozy, picturesque evening. Plus, I found an occasion to wear feathers finally. Thank you.
